Networks

We’re proud to work in partnership with so many inspiring organisations across the south west and the UK.

Bristol and South Gloucestershire GLEN

Global Education Initiatives has chaired the Bristol & South Gloucestershire Global Education Network for a number of years and together we have delivered events and projects in Bristol and the wider area. Members of the GLEN include the Local Authorities, our local Universities, Schools, Organisations such as the British Red Cross and Envision and other networks such as the Bristol Fair Trade Network. Past projects include the Global Education Directory South West (download here) whilst together we host an Annual Global Education Conference, led by a different agency each year. Our conference this year is on Thursday November 10th at the Exhibition and Conference Centre, UWE. Click here for more information.

African Voices Forum

The African Voices Forum (AVF) is a Bristol-based network of African and African-Caribbean community associations/organisations and other community organisations working to empower Africans and African-Caribbeans to take active part in policies and initiatives that concern them. As well as helping set up the forum, Global Education Initiatives has worked with the AVF on projects such as our African Voices DVD and Resource (download here) and our Global Education Manager sits on the Management Committee.

South West DECs

Did you know that most areas in the UK have a Development Education Centre? We  work with 6 active and committed organisations who deliver global education in their local area. Working together we can learn from each other and provide a better service in formal and informal education. Current joint work includes the Global Schools Partnerships programme. Bristol Fairtrade Network

Fair trade remains one of the most important initiatives in our every day lives. Fair trade fortnight is now a staple on the school calendar and there are few people – adults or children who are not aware of it. But it can still achieve so much more. We undertake work with our local Fairtrade Network, and they’re all over the country.

GLEAN

The Global Learning Network South West promotes effective global learning in the area through supporting providers and schools in creating networks and projects.
